For centuries, men were at the center of the historical narrative. Many of the achievements of women were lost or passed off as those of men. The website „Womxn inventing the Internet“ tells the story of some of the women without whom the Internet and the World Wide Web would not exist.
Explore the stories of 27 women in programming, website, and video game development through a multimedia presentation consisting of images, videos, and sound. Each woman‘s story is narrated by a translation machine and accompanied by music created by women. The website also features font designs by women.
Again and again, women have had to assert themselves in technical fields, and too often they have been underestimated and overheard. Many stories are still unknown. This project aims to make some of these women heard and their stories experienced.
